Join Mo and discover your very own spicy little scarecrow, inspired by vintage tabletop scarecrows of harvest season. Come channel your new grassy scarecrow protector, whether more spooky, strange, or brainless in Oz. These agricultural entities will be constituted of dyed burlap, a lightweight body system, vintage novelty fabric, dried grasses, buttons, straw, notions, and vintage raffia.
Tabletop Scarecrows are like mini scarecrows, approximating 12 or so inches in height.
Kids and their guardians are welcome. One scarecrow per ticket.

Come one, come all, to the hell gate of Southeast Portland (Oregon). Behold the tiny but ALL POWERFUL enamel kiln, cranking at a minimum 1450 burning degrees ( Fahrenheit). Wield a sharp pair of snippers and slice some copper into a shape from your NIGHTMARES! Or even scarier, SOMETHING CUTE. Adorn your beloved shape or switch plate with a malignant multitude of opaque or transparent glass powders. Watch it be lowered into the “PIT OF HELL” and come back out scorching ( on a spatula!)

Enamel is an ancient art that fuses glass to copper via a quick trip into our small, HOT kiln. ENAMEL YOUR VERY OWN toggle light switch plate or small free-form copper shape.
Learn the unique enamel on copper process. We will apply a range of colorful glass frit to a copper substrate, followed by a quick trip into our small, HOT kiln. You will leave with an original, hand-held work of art. BEHOLD the magic of glass !

“HOW GROTESQUE?!” SPOOKY STILL LIFE DRAWING
Join us around the table to draw from a scene so repellent you will want to gouge your eyes out! Or maybe there will be a bowl of eyeballs!? HOW GROTESQUE is a spooky, strange, unhinged and plain wrong body horror themed still life drawing session taking place down the dark alley at 13th and division! Yes, that’s THIRTEENTH. Bring your favorite sketchbook and drawing materials! HAC has extras if you forget.
Includes hot apple cider, sparkly water, and an EVIL snack

Join the founders of HAC, Morgan Ritter & Rainen Knecht to learn about the history of the ouija board, explore the ideometer effect, and print or collage your own personally charged magical board!
Together we will:
Use pochoir and block printing to create a design
Print cut letters and numbers
Finish the back with board and book cloth resulting in a more clean, professional looking board
Enamel a one-of-a-kind planchette
All Materials Included.
Also includes a spooky refreshments.

Join Rainen and Mo to learn about the wonders of two part epoxy clay! Or, if you're into it, explore possibilities with homemade sawdust clay! SCULPT a decorative flourish on your broom's handle or perhaps its crown…. Bedazzle that thing into oblivion with crystals, pebbles, buttons and rhinestones. This broom will not sweep your floor for you but it is guaranteed to give a visual energy boost every time thine eyes lay upon it! Broom included or BYOB (bring your own broom).

House of Art & Craft (H.A.C.) is an anti-institutional art school for adults founded by artist Rainen Knecht, and co-directed by artist/poet Morgan Ritter. H.A.C. currently offers uncommon hands-on art classes, open studio time, pop-up workshops, singular artist-made furniture, fashion and art objects, and more! We are unaccredited, affordable, and approachable. Our programs are facilitated by practicing artists and educators from many backgrounds, including established contemporary artists to folk artists living on the fringe!
What differentiates H.A.C. from other studio schools is that we are co-directed by working contemporary artists and we emphasize fun and affordability with NOTAFLOF spots per every class. Our program includes niche processes such as copper enameling, pysanky on goose eggs, imaginative beadwork classes, and more.
Home-spun and hands-on, we believe art making doesn’t require a “genius” artist or a performance of skills. In fact, we believe art is for everyone. H.A.C. asserts that we can learn best through play.
H.A.C. is a space for collectivity. Here you can directly connect with the uniquely experimental and diverse working artists in the Pacific Northwest region.
H.A.C. is currently a bit rogue – headquartered partially within a functioning artist studio in SE Portland, Oregon, and in pop-ups at FARAG’S, it’s just a feeling, hide & seek gallery, art galleries, cafes, libraries, workplaces, and beyond.
