House of Art and Craft (HAC) is for AMATEURS, by AMATEURS. Capitalism tells us to never learn new, novel things, to only further perfect our useful traits - to be harder, better, more competitive in the “labor market”. HAC believes in using our hands to do things that aren’t optimized for profit, and that doing those awkward NEW things together is the best way.
We present AMATEUR HOUR as both a reference to the saying “what is this, amateur hour?” and to the original French meaning, which is “amare” or “to love”. Come try out a new, oddball craft with us, and if you love it-- you can come back and do it again!
“AMATEUR HOUR” is a very loose introductory session to one of our current offerings. There are light refreshments and the price point is knowingly very low to encourage a low-stakes drop-in style of attendance. Stay the whole time or just watch a little demonstration-- up to you!
This session will focus on ENAMEL ON COPPER, and yes you can give it a try! A demonstration will be provided from 6-6:30.
Small prepared copper pieces will be available for experimentation!
